White Willow April 2016

White Willow is a monthly Canadian lifestyle box. The box is $35CAD a month with $8.50 shipping to Canada and $19.50 to the US. That ends up being just over $40 for all my American readers! Each month 4-5 full-sized and sample products will be included. Items included will range from beauty & personal care, fashion accessories, home decor accents, culinary delights, fine paper goods/stationary, technology gadgets and other lifestyle surprises.

As with the first time, the first look was just kind of a let down. I was excited to dig around in the box but they always have stuff so hidden! I’ve gotten so used to opening a box and having the items just bursting out at you. I feel like they could definitely get away with a smaller box size, which would maybe even result in cheaper shipping!

The Goods

White Willow April

Classic Double Pearl Earrings by Cherrypick–These double sided earrings are the newest trend. They are classy and easy to wear. It was a good thing that I looked at the product description card or else this would have gone into the garbage with all the crinkle paper, it blended right in! I’m really bad at wearing earrings, but when I do remember to they definitely don’t look like this. I prefer mine to be brightly colored or something fun like dinosaurs or flamingos. I can see these being great for dressier occasions, though those don’t exist in my life. I’ll be holding on to these but can see them ending up in my gift pile.

White Soleil Candle by D.L & Co–This candle is “Essence of Florets” which is a mix of chic mimosa, purple freesia, blue hydrangea, tuberose, cozy musk, and soft sandalwood. I’m really not much of a candle person and this scent is just a bit much for me. The pattern on the glass is definitely eye catching, but it doesn’t really go with our decor at all. This will also be going into the gift pile.

Natural Foaming Face Wash by Consonant Skincare–This won Best Cleanser by Globe And Mail Style Beauty Awards and Top Beauty Product by Beauty Connexion. It’s 100% natural and is formulated to be the perfect 3-in-1 product. It’s gentle yet effective and packed with nourishing botanicals like Tea Tree Oil and Grape Seed Oil to hydrate skin, eliminate uneven skin tone, and fight blemishes. It’ll also remove makeup and is pH balanced so you don’t need to follow with a toner. I love foaming face wash. I always feel the most confident that I’m getting a clean face when it foams. I’ve got a few face washes that I’m working my way through but I’m excited to place this one in line. It’s nice that I can put off buying another one for a bit longer.

Gluten Free Artisan Vanilla Bean Cake Mix by NextJen–This is brought to us by award winning Chef Jen Peters. NextJen aims to provide the best ingredients, blended in perfect proportion with balanced flavor. They sprout and mill their own buckwheat with a traditional stone mill and are committed to making their gluten-free baking blend GMO-free, corn-free, preservative-free, dairy-free and sulphite-free. I’m not really one for baking and I don’t eat a ton of cake. Ian wanted to make a cake the other day though so he went ahead and used this mix. He’s been eating it but doesn’t seem super excited by it. He said it was good, but doesn’t sound like anything special. Seems like it’s a good option for a gluten free dessert though.

Earl Grey Imperial Tea Sachets by Harney & Sons Master Tea Blenders–This tea is part of their distinguished line of historical English blends created especially for the Historic Royal Palaces of England. Ian was pretty happy to see a black tea. It comes in little sachets so it’s handy he doesn’t need to do anything with that. He seems to think that this was a good item!

Final Thoughts

There was 5 items in this box. Two of them went to Ian, two will go into a gift pile, and one is something that I will use. Based on these numbers I did put a pause on this box for May. I’m going to use this money to try out a couple of other new Canadian boxes and see if they are better suited to me. I do like that this box gets me items that I can use for gifts, but there are only so many gifts I need to collect throughout the year!
