Topbox is a Canadian subscription box that costs $12 a month for four beauty samples. Going way back to Black Friday, Topbox had a great deal with their limited edition boxes. It was so long ago that I can’t quite remember the price, but pretty close to buy one get one free. I ended up buying the LouLou and Flare editions. This review is long overdo, but I just had so many other monthly boxes coming in that these took the back burner.
They say that since winter isn’t the most kind to Canadian beautistas (as someone living in Saskatchewan, I can strongly agree to this) they put together a pick-me-up with their latest collaboration. It consists of a variety of new finds to save your skin, and to inject a fresh glow to a washed-out complexion.
Also included with the purchase of this box was a 4 issue subscription to LouLou magazine. This is one of my favorite magazines so I was quite excited by this. It always has affordable fashion finds and stores/deals relevant to me as a Canadian. This is especially important to me now that the exchange rate is so poor!
Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo–This dry shampoo absorbs oil while also strengthening strands. I received this in my first Birchbox and really like it. The scent is great, and I like that it doesn’t leave behind a white powder. It also seems to do a great job at absorbing oil. Since I go to the gym at least 5 days a week that means that I’m showering and washing my hair almost every day. On the rare day that I don’t need to wash it, it looks quite oily now. Dry shampoo has become a staple for weekends because of this.
Barefoot Venus Argan Dry Body Oil–This oil consists of apricot-kernel, meadow foam and argan. I don’t usually like perfume products as the smells just aren’t me. This is amazing though. The scent says Pink Pepper, and I can’t quite pinpoint how to describe the scent. It smells like pink, but with a little something something added to it (pepper I suppose?). The packaging is really cute with the owl as well. I’m going to be putting this into my purse. Now that the weather is getting nicer I have been going for walks during my lunch break. This will be a great product to have on hand any time I want to do a little freshening up.
Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer–This glide-on primer offers 15 hours of flawless foundation. My favorite thing about this is the cute container. I love the polka dots! As for the product itself, I’ve always been really happy with Benefit. They have some great products that really do their job. This color is a bit light, but will be perfect for my winter skin tone since I can’t hold a tan!
Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micelle Solution–This ultra-mild formula effectively removes makeup (including water resistant) without any rinsing. I was worried about this product having a bit of a chemical scent, but I’m happy to report that it doesn’t, in fact, it doesn’t seem to have much of a scent at all. I’m fairly picky about my make up removers because I want something very simple. Thankfully, this falls under that category! I just wet a cotton pad with this and wiped the make up off.
Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon–There are tons of natural ingredients in this crayon, and it is also very hydrating. I’ve used this brand of lip balm before but had no idea they had crayons! The color is a lot more subtle than I expected, given how the shade looked. I think I’m happy with that fact though. It’s as nourishing as I remember the regular lip balms being which is a huge positive. Definitely happy with this product!
Cake Milk Made Velveteen Hand Creme–This velvety-smooth cream is packed with vitamins. They pour in whole milk, marshmallow extract, mango butter and shea butter. It’s infused with scents of whole vanilla milk and baked raspberry. The scent of this actually reminded me of those cupcake dolls that I had when I was a kid. Anyone remember those? This is another brand that I’ve tried in the past and was very pleased with. I used to always keep it in my purse, until one day that it exploded inside. That was a sad and messy day! My only complaint is that the lid is a bit tough to open, though at least I don’t have to worry about another explosion!
Estee Lauder Sumptuous Infinite Mascara–These fibres stretch lashes to incredible lengths. Fuller, longer, and more dramatic. I’m seriously so over receiving mascara in boxes. This trend needs to go away. I’ll find someone to gift this to, but I definitely won’t use it.
Kinetics Nail Polish (Up The Rocks)–This polish is smooth and offers easy application, and contains plasticizers. I had to Google to see what that actually meant to me, and it makes the polish more flexible and increases the durability. This polish went on extremely easy, it only took one coat and my nail was done. I didn’t use a top coat, but it started chipping off within a couple days, though it did last longer than others have!
Marks Mineral Blush (Cantaloupe)–This is a deeply pigmented mineral-based loose powder to give you a rosy complexion. This brand seems to be popping up everywhere. I was surprised though when I realized that it’s blush because I’ve been receiving so many eye shadows lately. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they included three of this product, that’s a great value. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not much of a blush person, but I’m still happy with this. It’s a pretty decent shade and I’ll likely use it. I might also gift a couple because it could be years before I go through three of these!
Orlane Oligo Vitamin Mask–This hypoallergenic, paraben-free mask helps to give you a radiant complexion. It can be used on all skin types. I tried to figure out what it said on this product, but then realized it’s basically all in french. It has a bit of a rose scent to it, which I’m not a huge fan of. It’s just a bit too flowery for me. I will likely end up finding a new home for this!
I’ve always been a fan of the TopBox Limited Edition boxes and this was no exception. I love that it includes such a variety of brands and types of products. I will use most of the products, and will easily gift those that I won’t. I can’t wait for the next LouLou box!
