Topbox is a Canadian subscription box that costs $12 a month for four beauty samples. Going way back to Black Friday, Topbox had a great deal with their limited edition boxes. It was so long ago that I can’t quite remember the price, but pretty close to buy one get one free. I ended up buying the LouLou (review here) and Flare editions. This review is long overdo, but I just had so many other monthly boxes coming in that this took the back burner.
Flare’s beauty editors say that the best part of their job is testing out all the latest and greatest beauty products and sharing their finds in every issue of Flare. Their primping staples for the holidays are party-ready lipstick and nail polish, glow boosting skincare and sheen enhancing hair oil.
Same as the LouLou box, this Flare box came with four issues of Flare magazine. I’ve had fun reading the articles and looking at the pictures. It’s definitely more geared towards the higher end stuff that I usually shy away from, but it’s still fun to look through.
So Susan Flutter Mascara–This mascara has a thicker formula for a lush look. I think I say this every time, but I’m so over mascara. Like extremely. I want them to all go away. For now though, this will go into my gifting box and we will see where it ends up.
Shu Uemura Art Of Hair Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective OIl–You can treat hair to this product the night before a big event for high shine without weight. It protects and hydrates your hair and you can use it as a styling tool, pre-shampoo treatment or leave in conditioner. It disappears into your hair to leave it soft and sleek. The nourishing oil coats dry strands which tames down the frizz and flyaways. I haven’t used this yet, and really don’t know if I will. My hair is decently shiny and hydrated without it.
Mememe Dew Pot in Hollow Haze–They recommend mixing it up this year and trying a mauve smokey eye, which is a color that looks great on everyone. I’m a bit confused by that statement, as this is not mauve. I also don’t think this will be a great color for my skin tone, though I do agree that mauve looks great on everyone. I will likely not wear this as it’s just too yellow for me.
Essie Nail Lacquer in Toggle To The Top–They say that this is one of the easiest ways to get into the spirit (of the holidays) without going over the top. This is a beautiful color, and definitely perfect for around the holidays. I love that it has a bit of a sparkle to it, and it’s also a great brand. I’ve had great experiences with the quality of Essie. Had I actually opened this box around the holidays I definitely would have used this, but I’m sure I can find another occasion! Not that I wouldn’t wear this on a day that I just wanted to feel red and sparkly!
Belvada Touch Of Gold–You can use this gold flecked cream for strategic body highlighting, such as on your clavicle with a strapless dress. I feel like I’m at that age where gold glitter just doesn’t interest me. I also really don’t have occasions where glitter on my clavicle makes much sense, so maybe I just need to be invited to more fancy parties! I’ll likely hold on to this because maybe it’s one of those items that will suddenly be critical to have.
L’Occitane En Provence Shea Butter Hand Cream–This is an ultra-moisturizing cream that absorbs quickly and lasts all evening. This is definitely a good lotion, my hands didn’t feel greasy after using it, and it absorbs quickly. The only thing I didn’t link was that it smells like lotion. Some people might like that, but I want citrus and berries and something pleasant on my hands, not lotion.
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution–This is a cleanser that gives you a deep clean and can remove even the toughest make up. I actually got this in the LouLou box as well, but it will be nice to have a second on hand. It works really well and doesn’t have much of a scent.
Vasanti Love Brights Gel Matte Lipstick (True Love)–They say that this will be the most important item in your make up case for the holiday season. I’m happy with any red lipstick, I love the bold look it gives!
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex II–This product helps to calm puffy eyes and reignite a youthful light. I have so many eye products already, and really don’t struggle with puffy eyes. This will go into the gifting box.
Jurlique rosewater Balancing Mist–A quick spray of this will leave you feeling refreshed and ready for the next round of festivities. It’s designed to restore, hydrate and tone the skin in one simple spritz. I really like the idea of this, I just don’t know how much I like the really intense rose scent, it felt overwhelming. I have a friend who was recently in search of this product so I was able to find it a new home!
Vasanti Luminous Cream Blush in Pinnacle–They suggest applying this to your cheeks for the “I just came in from the blizzard” look. Seeing as how this is Saskatchewan, I may just get an opportunity to have that exact look even though we are well into May! Fingers crossed that the snow is finally over, but we can never get too comfortable. I don’t often keep blushes but I do really like this color and will likely use it.
Teez Spectrum of Stars Eyeshadow–They suggest applying this shadow to your lid just above your iris and on the inner corner of the eye. It will lighten up what’s usually a dark area of the lid and make your eyes pop. I’ve been a fan of Teez products ever since I first found out about them through Lip Factory (RIP). I always love the cute packaging, and the quality of products is great. I love that this looks like an ornament, and hello camera in the reflection! I don’t often pay attention to ways to brighten my eyes as it seems like a lost cause behind my glasses. Perhaps one day I will rediscover an appreciation for contacts (though really, what fun is that? Glasses are great to color coordinate with your outfits!).
I always enjoy these limited edition boxes, they are always well curated. I love the variety of brands and products, and a lot of them are ones that I don’t regularly see in boxes. Definitely enjoyed opening this one!
