Slim Fast 14 Day Challenge Results

The two weeks is officially over. If you have missed the previous posts you can read my introduction here, Day 1-3 here, week one results here, day 7-10 here and day 11-13 here. I’ve been going through this challenge with a great friend of mine who has the blog Fabricated Press. Go check out his posts as well!

This two week challenge went really well. I’m so proud of myself for making it the entire time and actually sticking to the plan. If you read my previous post you will know that in my first week I lost 6 pounds. My second week was not nearly as successful. I ended up losing about 1.5 pounds.  I was a bit disheartened when I first found this, but 7.5 pounds in two weeks is amazing!

There are two things I was hoping would happen from this two week challenge. I was hoping to lose at least some weight, and I wanted to kick my snacking habit. I would say that I was successful on both of those fronts. I don’t crave the snacking like I used to. I don’t need to be eating all the time, and when I do, I can make healthier choices. I know I will never give up snacking completely. I don’t have to make choices like candy though. I felt more full these past two weeks on this diet then I was when I was eating more. The reason? I’m actually having healthy food, which is way more filling.

Since I started this diet I am also down a pant size. This is a huge deal for me because I have been stuck in the same size for too long. It feels great to go and try on old pants and find them to be too big. I went through my clothes this weekend and have a huge pile to get rid of because they look or feel too big. That’s such a great feeling.

Slim Fast is not a solution, it’s a means to an end. When I was doing research on it, the biggest complaint I found was weight gain after finishing the diet. The reason this happens is because people don’t stick to a 1200 calorie diet. That’s what this is. Now that I’m done, if I start having 2000 calories a day, the rest of my weight loss will not be successful. I need to make smart, sensible, food solutions. I feel more prepared to make those choices now. This past week of cooking was a great experience for me. It made me start thinking about healthy meals I could make, as well as healthy alternatives in recipes.

I will be taking a week off from this diet. Ian and I will be heading to Calgary for my grandmother’s funeral in the next couple of days. I’m not going to stay on this diet while I am there, but I am still going to make smart choices. Once I get back I will continue with this diet. I am going to bring some meal bars with me though. If we end up missing a meal at any point it will be great to have those with me. I will also keep some healthy snacks with me in case I get hungry at any point.

From now on I will be doing monthly updates on my weight loss. I hope you enjoyed reading about these past two weeks and will enjoy this journey with me. Hopefully this may have even inspired you to make a change!
