Juneberry February/March 2017

Juneberry is a bi-monthly Canadian subscription box, each having 4-5 different lifestyle items. The cost is $28.50CAD every two months, and they have free shipping to Canada and the United States. You can also pre-pay for 3 or 6 months which lowers the price. Since prices are in CAD, it’s even cheaper for all you American friends reading this! There is also a shop where you can purchase items from past boxes. There is also a coupon code at the end for new subscribers, so make sure you read all the way through!

This months theme was “Elegance”. The information card states: “We’ve included 5 curated items, all selected to make you feel like your best self. Remember – elegance isn’t about what other people think, it’s about you!”

I’m not exactly an elegant person, and this theme doesn’t really gear towards my general tastes. I was curious to see how I would feel about the contents of this box!

The Goods

Handmade ring dish ($14)–This is actually a really small dish, probably about the size of the palm of my hand. I really wish I knew how to describe the material of it. It has an almost rubbery feel to it. I think it’s neat that it’s handmade, and I like the pink. I’m not really sure what to use it for though since I keep my rings in a jewelry box. I’ll either hold on to this until I find a purpose, or it will be gifted.

Julep Nail Polish ($14)–I used to subscribe to Julep so I have a lot of polishes from them. I’ve always been fairly happen with how long it lasts and how easily it covers. This definitely isn’t a color for me, the odd time I paint my nails I prefer something bright and bold. This will definitely be gifted.

Rose Quartz Necklace ($16)–I’m not a huge fan of gold, but I really like this necklace. It’s a great length and lightweight. It seems like it will be easy to match with a variety of different styles and colors, so that’s always a bonus.

Patterned Notebook ($5)–I really like the colors and design on this notebook. The pages are also lined, which is handy. I like having small notebooks to keep in my purse. They are very helpful when I attend events that I need to write about, or even if I just want to jot down an idea that I come up with.

Hand Sanitizer ($2)–I believe this is from Bath & Body Works, and I actually have another scent of this in my purse already from a different box. I’ve never actually used it, but it’s nice to know it’s there. I may put this in a different purse so I don’t have to move it over when I switch, or find a different place to keep it. I feel like this is one of those things that if you don’t have it, you really wish you did.

Final Thoughts

Juneberry is so hit or miss. Sometimes they absolutely kill it with their themes (example here and here) and then you have a box like this. I really do not get what hand sanitzer has to do with elegance. I also feel like the prices are really inflated, $5 for a notebook that you could probably get for $1 at a dollar store. I do really like the necklace though, and the ring dish is certainly unique.

This is still one of my favorite subscription boxes overall, I just wish they had more consistency.
