Jules Wellness is a monthly Canadian lifestyle subscription that is female focused and contains health-conscious items. The box is $34.32CAD monthly with free shipping within Canada and $10 to the US, or $39CAD if you want to try just one month (with the exchange rate and shipping it ends up being about $35USD). Items include health-conscious snacks and food, artisan chocolate, natural & organic skincare products, supplements and lifestyle products. This company is based out of Toronto and was founded by Julie Tadeson, an entrepreneur, culinary nutritionist, personal trainer, holistic lifestyle coach and mom.
The focus for April is all anti-inflammatory choices to help you heal from the inside. They say that inflammation is the body’s natural response to heal, but it also contributes to most diseases, ailments and pain. Foods lacking nutrition and living a stressful, inactive lifestyle can cause over activity to your immune system. By being more mindful and making a few lifestyle changes you can reduce inflammation in your body.
This was also their first month with a new box. It has all sorts of inspirational words and phrases throughout it. I do wish that they would have put the shipping labels on the plain bottom of the box rather than over all of the writing.
Apple Cider Vinegar–This has anti-inflammatory benefits and helps support a healthy immune system, manages weight and maintains healthy looking skin. It needs to contain the “mother” which is strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria. It’s been used for centuries to help with a variety of ailments because of it’s antibiotic and antiseptic properties. I do have some recipes that call for Apple Cider Vinegar, though I don’t know if I’ve made any of them yet. I guess I will have to now!
Cha’s Organic Turmeric–Rich in curcumin and other phytonutrients, this is great for inflammation. It can be used in smoothies, salad dressings, eggs, soup or chili. I’m going to wade the waters a bit with this but will start using it my mornings eggs in small doses, and then I may graduate up to using it in my smoothies.
Dutchman’s Raw Honey–This honey is in it’s natural crystallized form so it’s just like eating it straight from the hive. It even still contains tiny bits of beeswax and bee pollen. I’m a huge honey fan and love having it on toast or a PB & Honey sandwich, sometimes with bananas! Honey definitely isn’t cheap so I’m happy to have some more for when my current one is gone.
Nutrisea + D fish Oil Capsules–Fish Oil capsules help maintain good health and promotes strong bones and teeth. This combination makes it easy to get your vitamin D and Omega 3. For awhile I was taking both of those, but got lazy and stopped. Perhaps now that I got this and they are combined that will make it easier for me to remember! In fact, I’ve had them two days in a row now!
Lemon Lily AnTea Inflammatory Loose Leaf Tea–This is handmade in Toronto and contains turmeric, cinnamon and cayenne. I’m not a tea drinker but Ian is. He tried this and said it was definitely strong and has a kick. It won’t be a tea that he drinks a ton of, but it sounds like it will be good if he’s starting to feel sick at all!
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts–Hemp hearts are the best and most nutritious part of the hemp seed. It’s packed with 10 grams of plant-based protein and 10 grams of omegas per 30 gram serving. They can replenish what your body may be missing with vitamins, minerals and fibre. It’s suggested that you sprinkle this on anything like salads, yogurt etc, or use in your smoothies. I think I’m most likely to add this into my smoothies.
Martin’s Apple Chips–These are 100% dehydrated apple, contains no fat, added sugar or preservatives and is gluten free. These apples are picked from orchards and processed in their own plant to remove the water. I love fruit but haven’t ever had dehydrated anything. I’ve been wanting to try it for awhile so it’s very handy to have it handed over to me like this. I haven’t tried them yet but will soon!
I’m really loving this subscription! This was such a great box and they really stuck to the theme. I feel as though I got a great value and the honey was definitely my favorite item. I’m also excited to *finally* take the plunge and try dehydrated fruit. I do wish that it had more snack type items since that’s always my biggest struggle, but no real complaints here!
