Ipsy January 2015

Ipsy (referral link) is a monthly beauty subscription. Each month subscribers receive a Glam Bag that has a combination of 4-5 deluxe samples and full size products. The cost is $10 a month with $4.95 shipping to Canada.

They currently have a wait list but there are different ways to ‘skip’ it. If you chose to wait it can take anywhere from 1-3 months (from what I hear). They also sometimes have a ‘skip the wait list’ day.

Usually around the 12th of the month you have the option of viewing your “Glam Room” which shows the items that you will be receiving. There are usually about 20 different items and the ones you receive are determined by a survey you fill out when you sign up. You can also collect ipsy points by doing reviews, which you can later redeem for bonus items.

January’s theme is “Fresh Start.” They say: “A kickoff so clean the possibilities are endless. Get ready for a fantastic and flawless 2015.”

I really like January’s bag! It’s very fresh and clean looking, which goes along great with their theme. I love that each side is different, and it has an orange zipper. The colors go great together and I love how bright it is. I’m definitely keeping this bag!

Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow Brush–This brush has 100% synthetic bristles. You can use it to highlight your brow bone and have even application. I have a lot of make up brushes, and since I don’t apply makeup on a regular basis, they don’t get used very often. That said, this is pink and I love it.

Probelle Into The Blue Nail Lacquer–This is a cool blue cream shade. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but I applied the polish to one nail and was impressed at how easily it went on. It’s a really pretty shade. I have a lot of blue colors, but they are more bright, where as this has a different tinge to it. I’m really happy with this one, and it makes up for receiving a gold color in my BB5 box.

Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow–This is a rich, lasting, crease-less eye shadow that is infused with coconut, giving it a velvety, cream-like finish. I actually quite like this color, I have a pretty good stock pile of blues and pinks etc. but I don’t have too many neutrals. This is a great dark color that will go well with my complexion.

(MALIN+GOETZ) Mojito Lip Balm–This gel lip balm is scientifically blended to restore and replenish. This has taken place of a lip balm that I just ran out of in the living room. It soothes the lips great, but leaves them very shiny, which makes me less inclined to wear it out. I like how my lips feel less dry with it though, and the consistency and flavor are acceptable as well.

BelláPierre Shimmer Powder–This is made with 100% pure mineral powder. It provides long lasting, vibrant color. BellaPierre shimmer powders are Hypoallergenic and suitable for all skin types. I still don’t know how I feel about loose shadow. It doesn’t seem to work as well for me as it does for others, It’s also a very dark color. I’m not a fan of light colors, but there is such a thing as too dark.

I’m mostly happy with this month. The bag itself is eye catching, which I love. I’ll use the brush, polish and the lip balm. I’ll likely eventually use the brown shadow, but the shimmer powder is kind of a loss for me. I don’t think I’ll wear it, and it seems pointless to receive two eye shadows. In fact, I hate receiving two products that serve the same purpose. I want variety! I’m still going to stick with Ipsy for a bit longer because I am less disappointed than I was, but we will see what ends up happening. I might end up getting rid of this one and resubscribing to BB5 on a monthly basis once my renewal comes up.

Some really nice stuff in this one. The blue polish is great, and so is the bag. The other shadow can go in someone’s next Christmas box! 😉
