Ipsy February 2015

Ipsy (referral link) is a monthly beauty subscription. Each month subscribers receive a Glam Bag that has a combination of 4-5 deluxe samples and full size products. The cost is $10 a month with $4.95 shipping to Canada.

They currently have a wait list but there are different ways to ‘skip’ it. If you chose to wait it can take anywhere from 1-3 months (from what I hear). They also sometimes have a ‘skip the wait list’ day.

Usually around the 12th of the month you have the option of viewing your “Glam Room” which shows the items that you will be receiving. There are usually about 20 different items and the ones you receive are determined by a survey you fill out when you sign up. You can also collect ipsy points by doing reviews, which you can later redeem for bonus items.

I love this bag! The quality doesn’t necessarily feel the best, but I love this color and pattern. The combination of white, grey and pink is striking, and it’s just happy looking! I think I want a skirt in this pattern.

The Goods

CARGO Cosmetics Mini Lip Gloss–This gloss has intense color and locks in moisture to help keep your lips hydrated. It includes ingredients like Vitamin E and Jojoba Seed oil, which help increase your lips moisture, and it decreases the appearance of furrows around the mouth. It also maximizes your lip volume to make them look more full. This shade is called Anguilla and I can’t quite figure out what scent this has. It has a pleasant pink lip gloss scent, that’s the only way I can describe it. I love how smooth it feels, it goes on easy and feels soft.

Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray–This spray adds volume and texture to hair and protects it against heat. You can either apply it to damp hair before blow drying, which adds texture and life, or on dry hair to revitalize. I don’t know if I saw any added volume, which is okay with me. I’ve almost used up my heat spray from last month and so I am happy to receive another spray that serves the same purpose. This doesn’t have as nice of a scent and I think I’ll follow it up with another, better smelling, product.

Mitchell and Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil–This face oil is packed with powerful natural anti-oxidants and vitamins that are absorbed into the skin, leaving it feeling plumper, firmer and glowing with radiance. I was happy to see that they put this in a separate little baggie in the makeup bag. The container felt a bit greasy so I don’t know what it would have done had it been with everything else! I wish this had a nicer scent. With a name containing peach I would expect more!

ModelCo Blush Cheek Powder–The micronized color pigments and pressed powder give your skin a sheer, natural radiance and it lasts all day. I say this every time, but I just don’t like blush. I’m not going to use it. I’ve had ModelCo items in the past and have always been happy with that brand though. I’m sure I can find a new home for this where it will actually get used. This color is “Peach Bellini”, which alone would likely be a bad shade for me.

NYX Cosmetics Slim Eye Pencil–This is a creamy, long wearing eye liner. It goes on easy and resists bleeding. The colors being sent out were either Crystal Glitter, Gold, or Silver Shimmer and so I was a bit concerned about what I would receive. Of course out of three colors I receive the one I least wanted! That’s okay though, I’m not a fan of eye pencil’s anyway, I much prefer the gel liners. I might end up keeping it and using it to highlight a bit, or I may save it for gifting. It’s a very yellow gold but looks very smooth.

Final Thoughts

Once again, I’m very happy with the variety of items that I received. Nothing serves the same purpose and it covers all bases, eyes, lips, face, cheeks and hair. Two of the items I’m very likely gifting but the other three are great items. They are products that I will use up and replace other items that are almost gone. And clearly you can never have too many lip glosses!

Nice variety and a really pretty bag!
