Happy Mail February 2015

Happy Mail is a monthly card subscription box that was launched by blog A Beautiful Mess. The cost is $20 a month plus $2 for international shipping. The cost goes down the longer the commitment. I signed up for a one year commitment so it is costing me $15 a month plus shipping. I’ve been a fan of A Beautiful Mess for quite some time now. They cover a variety of topics from cooking, DIY, fashion, photography, blogging etc. They have also come out with Messy Box which consists of paper, stickers, washi tape, and many other items that you need to make great albums and scrapbooks.

Everything came in a sturdy cardboard envelope, which I was really pleased about because I was worried about the cards getting bent. I subscribed to this after the boxes were initially mailed out, but it took FOREVER to get to me. It generally takes about 10 days for items to get to me from the US. I’m hoping this was a one time thing, but it took double that time! There was some crazy weather going on, so I’m hoping that’s the reason. We will see how long it takes for March to come!

The Goods

“Happy Birthday” Flat Card

“Oh Hey Girl” Flat Card
“Just Because” Postcard

Donut Flat Card–On the back it says “I’m here to save the day!”

“You Da Best” Flat Card

“This Is For Your:” Flat Card
“I Miss You” Folded Card

Along with cards they also include some type of extra item. This month is was a pencil that says “I just Wanna Shake Shake Shake Shake Shake”. I probably won’t use this pencil, since I just really don’t use pencils. I still haven’t used some that I traded for awhile back that are hot pink and have Clueless quotes on them.

Also included were these pinwheel rainbow stickers to seal envelopes, and some word stickers that include phrases from Clueless, Mean Girls and other pop culture phrases.

Each month there is also going to be a custom print. I love the colors on this, and the saying is so great. I’m going to hold on to this and perhaps one day have my own office space or some room in a closet to hang things like this.

Final Thoughts

I’m really not much of a card giver. I hate going to card shops, scouring the racks trying to find the perfect one, and then sometimes having to pay upwards of $10 to purchase it. It’s going to be so nice to only have to shop my own stash. Perhaps at some point I will come up with an organizational method to keep the occasions straight.  I’m so excited about this subscription. The cards are so fun and I like how most of them are generic with blank insides so they can be used for so many different occasions. The brightly colored envelopes are also great. I was fully expecting to receive envelopes to go along with the cards, but I’m pleased that they didn’t just go with basic white ones. It’s also great that they include a few extras that go along with the card theme. This was also very handy because it came in time for me to use the birthday card for my mom’s birthday on Saturday! I’m looking forward to seeing what the March box all includes.
