FabFitFun (referral link) is a quarterly lifestyle subscription box. Boxes are $49.99 and consist of seasonally themed, full size premium products worth $200+. Shipping is free in the US and $8 for Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.
You can subscribe to FabFitFun seasonally or upgrade to an annual subscription. By upgrading you will be able to select your color or style variation on certain items.
For Summer 2017 they also did something new for all subscribers. This time they offered a choice between different themes. Your first pick was between “Fitness” or “Beauty” and your second pick was between “Artist”, “Chef” or “Traveler”. Keep reading to see which I picked!
Boxes have a different style each quarter, and I love summer’s! Partly because of the purple, but it’s also a great reference for summer vacations and traveling. Plus the vintage vibe is just awesome! The designer of this box is Libby Vanderploeg.
FFF also includes an information booklet. It gives all the details about the items and brands included in that season’s box, including some background into the companies. I love the information that I learn from this!
Michael Stars Ruana ($54) – This Ruana is 100% Viscose and can be used as a scarf, sarong or a wrap. It measures 41″x 72″. This is SO soft and lightweight! There were three different color options, the picture below shows those as well as the different ways to wear it. This is the option I would have picked, so I’m happy with that. I’m really like the versatility of this item. It seems like a lot of swimsuit cover-ups are included in summer boxes, which makes sense, but they don’t serve much of a purpose for someone who doesn’t go to the pool or beach. This is an item I can definitely see myself using, particularly the scarf and drape method.
BKR Bottle ($35) – The two color options for this item were pink and blue. I would have been happy with either, but I’m really happy to have received the pink! This is a 500 ml glass water bottle with a twist off lid. The pink is silicone and free of BPA and phthalate, plus it’s dishwasher safe! My favorite things about this is that it’s smaller, and it’s glass. I’m a bit of a water bottle fiend. I probably have more than I need, but I use most of them (with a couple of back ups just in case). The size of this one makes it more convenient to throw into a bag for a hot summer day out on the town, which we definitely haven’t had a shortage of this year. The lid has a loop so you could also hook it on using a carabiner. My current water bottles are all plastic so I generally stay away from adding fruit or mixtures like MiO because that can easily stain or taint your bottle. With a glass bottle I don’t need to worry about that! Bring on the lemon water.
Kris Nations Mystic Bar Necklace ($58) – Seriously, how cute is this packaging?! This was a second item that had options and had I picked, I would have wanted this exact one. The gemstones are shaped, cut, polished and drilled by hand from craftsmen in India. The chain 18k gold chain is adjustable 16-18 inches. The Turquoise (above) promotes balance, discovery & confidence, Moonstone (peach) promotes strength, inner peace & growth, and Howlite (grey/white) enhances intuition & promotes calmness. There are a lot of people who believe gemstones have healing properties, bring positive vibes and repel negativity. I’m not sure how much I buy into that, but to me this is just a really pretty necklace that I will definitely wear.
Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate ($29) – I’ve used a face peel by this brand (and liked it) so I was excited to try another product. It contains organic grape & carrot juices blended with fatty acids which hydrates and nourishes the eye area. Plus a slight green apple scent, totally appealing! I always suck at using these products, and it’s really not something I would buy from myself. I will be using this though, because let’s face it, I’m not going to be young forever.
Avene Eau Thermale Ultra-Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion ($24) – I was really happy to see sunscreen included. One thing that shocked me in my adult life – how expensive this stuff is! Even this bottle, it’s quite small and costs $24!! I don’t use sunscreen a ton so mine usually end up expired before I’m able to use them up. I knew that I needed to replace my last one, so this had perfect timing. I actually like that it’s smaller because it’s easy to throw into my purse, and it doesn’t weigh it down. I’ve already used this a bunch, whether it be relaxing in our friends back yard or when we went ziplining. I know that I’ll have a ton more opportunities to use it yet, we haven’t even reached August!
Cargo HD Picture Perfect Highlighter ($30) – So..I’m sure you see the issue here. I had heard about some customers receiving damaged highlighters, so I made sure to check mine right away. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t too disappointed. I’m not much of a make-up person so it’s just better if I stay away from more complicated things like highlighter. I did email them though and rather than send me a replacement they were willing to offer me a slight discount on my next box. I’m very happy with this outcome, plus it wouldn’t have made sense for them to ship a new one to Canada anyway! Great customer service with this issue though.
Salted Himalayan Pink Salt Kit ($26) – I mentioned above that subscribers had a few options this quarter. I chose the “Chef” option, and I’m so glad I did! Of the three items this was definitely the most geared towards me. It came with a wood stand, grater and two salt blocks. They recommend putting it on your popcorn, you can also use it on items like steak, salad etc. I love how this looks sitting out on the kitchen counter, I can’t wait for us to get into a house to that it can be displayed there!
(Traveler: Understated Leather Travel Set luggage tag passport holder $28)
(Artist: Amy Tangerine Art Kit – canvas, stencil, acrylic paint, paint brush, foam stamper $22)
Way of Will Post Training Massaging Oil ($29.50) – This was the fitness item, which honestly, seems strange to me. Peppermint essential oil gives the skin a tingling sensation, German chamomile cools affected areas, lemongrass essential oil calms and tones the muscles and slack tissue and finally the jojoba oil improve skin hydration, elasticity and suppleness. It’s a neat item and I can understand the benefits of it post-workout. I would have loved to see an item that can be used for a workout though. That being said, I will use this.
(Beauty: Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk, $20)
FabFitFun boxes usually include a couple of sponsored items. This time we see a Vital Proteins Marine Collagen sample. Drinking Collagen is supposed to support the creation and repair of your bodies connective tissues. That’s not something that I’m interested in doing, I’m happy this was just a free sample rather than an item that was included.
Also included was 3 months free to Salted, a Netflix type subscription where you can sign up for cooking classes online with the nations top chefs. I’ve received this in boxes before and it’s not something I’m interested in. I believe that you do have to enter in your credit card information in order to redeem the three free months, which is a downside. I’ll stick to finding recipes online!
I looked at spoilers for this box before receiving it, and I wasn’t the most thrilled. It seemed lackluster and not very exciting. My opinion changed when I started to open it. I can see myself using or wearing almost every item. The highlighter was the one that I wouldn’t, but you saw what happened there. I was also very happy with the quick response I received from FFF and the solution we came to regarding the damaged item. I do wish that we had an item that was more fitness related, and I think one more item would have rounded this box out nicely.
Totally happy with this box though!
