Birchbox (referral link) is a monthly subscription box that sends you five personalized beauty items from hair, skincare, make up and Birchbox exclusives. The cost is $10 a month plus $4.95 shipping to Canada. You can fill out a style profile that will help them decide which variety of products they will send to you. You can buy full sized products through the Birchbox store and you can earn points towards purchases as well. After the 10th of each month you are able to go onto your account and view your box should you desire.
This month Birchbox partnered with Best Health. They say that we want to make the most of these long, breezy days since we have been waiting all year for them. We want to look, feel and be our best. The items in this box are geared to help you have your happiest, healthiest summer.
They also included a little magazine subscription sheet in case you want to subscribe to the magazine. You can get a years worth for $18.97. I don’t have any plans to subscribe.
I’m sure you know by now that I always get excited by the box itself, and this was no exception. I love the colors and the geometric design on it!
Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Lotion–Marine extracts hydrate and pamper your skin, and the fresh aqualeaf and citrus scent add some aromatherapy. This company supplies top-tier spas for over three decades, so it’s kind of impressive to find this in the box! I like that they include such an (apparently) high end brand. A little bit definitely goes a long way with this lotion, I think I used too much while testing it out. I usually prefer fruitier scents, but I actually don’t mind this. It’s fairly mild, but nice. I don’t know how else to describe it. My hands felt super soft after using it, I’m really happy with this lotion! Also, no greasy residue!
Acure Organic Brightening Facial Scrub–This scrub exfoliates and removes dirt and oil. It also stimulates new cell growth for fresh, radiant-looking skin. It contains argan stem cells and chlorella growth factor, which nudges skin to produce new cells and make you look more radiant! I don’t necessarily feel either way about this. It’s one of those things that you need to use for awhile before you can notice a difference. It did make my face feel clean though.
Benefit cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara–This mascara adds length and volume. It won’t run or smudge and gives lashes a natural looking curl without weighing them down. I feel like this is the second time in a very short time that I’ve received mascara from Birchbox. Not happy!
RUSK Hair Care Heatshift–This cream allows you to restyle your hair whenever you want, no washing or reapplying needed. It also reduces your styling and blow dry time by 50%. To restyle the hair you just need to apply heat from a styling tool. I don’t really style, or restyle my hair. The benefit to having short hair is that it just goes where I need it to be, and stays. I’ll still use it though for the reduced drying time, not that it takes very long as it is! I think that people who have hair that they want/need to restyle would find this handy. That’s just not me! I will say though that it seemed to make my hair more smooth and my second day hair looked a bit better than usual.
theBalm Cosmetics Balm Desert–This has a fade-resistant formula that works as a blush and bronzer to give you a sun-kissed look. The packaging is definitely my favorite part of this. I’ve received a few products from this company and always like the retro looking pictures. This isn’t a terrible color for me, though I’ve never been much of a bronzer/blush girl.
I feel neutral towards this box. With the exception of the mascara, there isn’t anything that I hate. There also isn’t anything that I love though. The lotion and facial scrub are probably the best items in here, and two that I will definitely be using.
