Last month I had opened a second account so that I could take advantage of the special editors box. I ended up canceling that account, and it’s a good thing. I didn’t see anything about that box this month, and I’m not hearing any sounds of it for January. I’m not sure why they only did it for one month. As for sample choice, I kept checking the website and the options were never available. Next thing I know, it shows the options but they are all sold out. This meant that I did not get a choice of my colors. I felt pretty frustrated about all of this and I’m hoping this month goes better.
Lord & Berry Twistick–This is a paraben-free lip pencil. It features the full color of a lipstick and the feel of a balm as well as the subtle sheen of a gloss. The color seems to be called “Must Have”, which isn’t actually listed on their website. I’d call it a dark/dusty pink color. It goes on nicely and definitely soothes my lips. They get really dry in the winter time so it’s nice to have the benefit of a balm, but with some added color.
My Daughter Fragrances (Always Loved)–This perfume is natural and free of parabens and phthalates. This perfume is described as how a cowgirl would smell coming back from Paris. What does that even mean? It has notes of Bulgarian rose oil and Turkish rose absolute, along with cedar, bitter cocoa absolute and patchouli. I didn’t even smell it, I still hate fragrances and won’t ever use one.
Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid–Ceramides are lipid molecules that are found naturally in our skin. They bind skin cells together, sealing in moisture and blocking out harmful microbes. Our skin produces fewer ceramides as we age. It causes dryness, loss of firmness and other signs of aging. This product delivers moisture and contains ingredients that strengthen and smooth your skin. You just use a small amount after cleansing, patting gently to ensure that it’s absorbed. You can then apply your makeup. I think this is one of those products that you have to use for awhile before really seeing any benefits from it, but it does seem to absorb nicely.
Coastal Scents styleEYES Eyeshadow Palette–These palattes make color combination easy by combining colors that go well together. This was the item that was sample choice, you could chose between a variety of colors. Of course I end up with the one color that I can’t wear, green. It’s definitely a nice shade, it just makes me look sick.
Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle–This leave-in mist conditions, shields from heat and sun damage, and detangles. It’s also vegan and suitable for all hair types. After towel drying your hair you just spray this into your hair and comb through to make sure it’s evenly distributed. I don’t know if I see this doing anything different than previous products have, but my hair feels soft so I like that! It also smells good so bonus points there.
This was a decent enough box. It did have one fragrance but thankfully no mascara! I like and will use 3/5 products, one will likely just go in the garbage, and one will be gifted at some point. All in all, I would call this a successful month. I do wish that I had gotten an email letting me know that it was time to pick my sample but now I just have to mark that date in my day planner so that I can get an item that will actually work for me!
