This is such a perfect design for August. I love how it looks 3D, I really want to just jump right in!IMG_1269

This month they are saying to “Soak it up!” They are taking advantage of every last minute of summer, which means embracing air dried hair, ensuring you have SPF heavy skincare, and having minimal makeup.

The Goods

IMG_1271

amika Nourishing Mask–This is an all natural hair mask containing sea buckthorn berry and jojoba oil. It hydrates your strands while repairing damage and sealing frayed ends. The sea buckthorn berry has actually been used for healing wounds, sunburns etc. You can apply this mask to your hair once a week, concentrating on the mid-shaft to ends of the hair, let it sit for 2-3 minutes and rinse thoroughly. I’ve used a dry shampoo from this brand and really like it, so I was expecting good things from it. I was happy to see that you don’t have to let it sit for too long before rinsing. I used this but can’t really say whether I noticed any difference. I think I’d have to use it more times to really tell.

Crabtree & Evelyn Ultra-moisturizing Hand Therapy–This is a healing moisturizing lotion. The vitamins and antioxidants offer a restorative skin therapy, giving you instantly smoother and hydrated hands. It also contains macadamia nut oil and shea butter which helps strengthen and protect your hands. This really did make my hands feel soft. I was expecting a really nice smell, but it had a very strong perfume scent, definitely not loving that. Since it works so well I will probably just use it on my feet, that way the scent isn’t as close to my nose.

LAQA & Co. Charm School Kit–This lip crayon offers easy application and gorgeous color. It works as either a cheek or lip color. It’s available in three colors and I received Humble Brag. I definitely wouldn’t use this as a cheek color, but it’s a nice lip color. It’s a bit of a darker pink, it’s really pretty!

Number 4 Blow Dry Lotion–This is a thermal protector and leave-in treatment. It has natural botanicals that keep your hair looking healthy and smooth. Soy protein strengthens your hair and protects, while vitamin B5 conditions and moisturizes it. For backup, it also contains acai berry, black currant and Irish moss. It also smells like citrus and cool marine notes over base notes of musk and amber. Whatever that means! You just rub a small amount through your damp hair and blow dry. The scent seemed fairly subtle which was nice. I didn’t really notice it doing anything special after using it twice, but it didn’t make my hair greasy or anything so that is a win in my books!

Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Antioxidant Serum with Retinol–This is an antiaging serum that acts as a mattifying pre-makeup base for oil prone skin, and shrinks pores, evens texture and diminishes the appreance of fine lines. Retinol is an antiaging compound that reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Vitamins, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory agents nourish skin, reduce irritation and absorb excess oil. I haven’t actually tried this item yet, and I’m not sure if i will. I have a number of products that do a lot of this already and don’t really deal with wrinkles or enlarged pores.

Final Thoughts

My favorite part of the box this month was the actual box. It’s so neat! As far as the items, I’m fairly neutral. I’m always happy to receive hair products because I do always use them. The lotion will eventually get used up. I like the lip color, but I have so many already! Finally, the Paula’s Choice product isn’t really useful to me. So, while this month is practical, it just doesn’t excite me. Hopefully next month is better!
