Beauty Box 5 July 2015

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly beauty subscription box that sends you a combination of makeup, beauty accessories, hair, skincare, fragrance, body, and nail products. Some products are deluxe sized samples and some are full size. The cost is $12 a month, plus $3 shipping to Canada.

This review is a bit late because this box came close to the end of July, and then there was just so much going on! Let’s get right into this.

July’s theme was “Summer Night Out”. They say on those hot summer nights that you don’t even want to think about getting ready, just swipe some sparkle on your nails, lips and body. That way you can spend more time out on the town. I could identify most items right off the hop, but was excited to dig in.

The Goods

OFRA Lip Gloss–I received this in Golden Rose and it’s a really light pink color. It smells like candy and goes on smooth. I like that it easily applies as a thin layer and doesn’t get goopy.

OFRA Lip Liner–It seems to make sense that they would include a lip liner as the same brand as a lip gloss. They say you could use them together, but I find that weird. I understand using liner along with lipstick, but with gloss? It’s a nice color, the name Glacier Pink makes sense because it has a bit of a frosty shade to it. I can say I likely won’t be using it though.

Nanacoco Nail Polish–This is a fast drying polish that overs chip free coverage. I really love this shade, but I feel like I have so many pink nail polishes already, and I hardly use them as it is. I have always been happy with this brand though, it does go on very easily.

Love Life Skin–Originally this was created to help chemotherapy patients sensitive skin to recover. The ultra-soothing formula will give your skin a healthy glow. I received two packets of restorative night cream, and two intensive recovery serum. I really wish they would do away with the foil packets. You can never get enough out of it. I would have preferred to see one type in a small bottle instead. It also doesn’t seem to specify whether these are both safe for the face, or if they are more for other areas. I’m assuming face?

Pur~lisse Flash Tattoos–You can fit these to fit fingers, wrists, arms, ankles etc. I see how these fit into the theme. I really do. What I don’t see is how these belong in a beauty box. I feel like these are more for a lifestyle box, they aren’t a beauty item! I still have some tattoos from previous boxes and haven’t really had an opportunity to wear them. I might cut these down and see if they take to nails at all though, that could look cute.

Final Thoughts

I like that they included three full sized products. Good for them on that. Everything fit into the theme, even if I don’t think they should have included the tattoos and hate foil packets. This was my last BB5 for now. I canceled it at the same time that I cancelled Ipsy. I just want a chance to try some new boxes, and have too many beauty products. I have enjoyed this box and can see myself subscribing again. I like that it generally has the most items that I’ve been able to use.
