Beauty Box 5 December 2014

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly beauty subscription box that sends you a combination of makeup, beauty accessories, hair, skincare, fragrance, body, and nail products. Some products are deluxe sized samples and some are full size. The cost is $12 a month, plus $3 shipping to Canada.

This is December’s review, in the middle of January. I’m not sure what the delay was, but this box came extremely late, receiving it only a week ago. Usually I get it mid-end of the month but they shipped out late, and with the holidays it took even longer to get here. I was beginning to think it was never going to show up!

December’s theme was Merry & Bright. They realize that with how busy the holidays get, it’s easy to put yourself on the back burner. The card says: “Here’s some goodies you can unwrap before the 25th to brighten up your complexion all December long.” That would have been great, had I received this in December!

Absolute! Nail Polish Remover Pads–These nail polish pads can be used on artificial and natural nails, one pad should work for all 10 nails. I haven’t tested this out yet because I haven’t gotten around to painting my nails in awhile. The scent is “spring fresh” and while it isn’t the nicest scent, it’s definitely better than liquid nail polish remover! I like how these would be easy to throw in a purse or suitcase while you’re traveling and maybe want to do a fix up on your nails.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer–This contains a blend of organic, antioxidant-rich plant and fruit oils. It helps reduce wrinkles, combat sun damage and hydrate your complexion. I hadn’t heard of Juice Beauty before the Winter FabFitFun box, which included the peel. They recommend using the moisturizer after the peel, so this was actually really good timing to receive this. The moisturizer goes on really well and doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky on the skin after.

Jaqua Bath & Body Collection–This hand cream is made with meadowfoam seed oil and cocoa extracts. I received Cocoa Buttercream Frosting and it smells exactly like chocolate. A small amount seems to go a long way and just soaks right into your skin. My hands felt very soft after using this! I have lotions coming out of the wazoo so I’m just going to put this away into a drawer for now, and hope that eventually I will get to it!

Nanacoco Nail Polish–I’ve received this brand of nail polish from a box in the past and was quite impressed with the formula. I’m not as happy about receiving gold. I’m not much of a gold person, particularly gold glitter. I do have one gold polish from Julep and I still haven’t used it. This will likely end up being gifted.

Lucky Brand Lucky Number 6–This contains a blend of lotus, tiger lily, cashmere woods and jasmine. I’m not much of a perfume person (at all) but I actually don’t hate this scent. It is a very light scent and I think I might actually use a little spritz here and there. It’s not something I would use for going to work, but perhaps for a night out with the husband.

I have mixed feelings with this box. I like the lotion but I have so many of them right now. The nail polish pads will be handy, but not something that I frequently reach for, but that’s mostly because my hoarding self wants to save that for when I might need it. The perfume will eventually get used up, and I’m happy to have the Juice Beauty moisturizer to use in conjunction with the peel. It’s fairly consistent that while this box doesn’t excite me, I end up using most items. I’ve only got 2 months left on my yearly subscription so I’m really assessing whether or not I will continue to subscribe after that time.
