Beauty Box 5 April 2015

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly beauty subscription box that sends you a combination of makeup, beauty accessories, hair, skincare, fragrance, body, and nail products. Some products are deluxe sized samples and some are full size. The cost is $12 a month, plus $3 shipping to Canada.

First Look

I was actually really surprised to see this box so early (and by early, I mean in the right month). I think it’s been since December that I have been receiving it at the tail end of the month, or into the next month. I had only seen one reveal so far, so I was curious what variations I would get. I was instantly pretty excited!

April’s theme is “bloom”. They say “Sure, April Showers bring May flowers–but why should those petals have all the fun? Break out of your winter dry spell early with a blossoming attitude and flourish all month long! Whether it’s scheduling a much-needed mani date with a bestie, helping someone less fortunate than yourself, or just committing to washing off your makeup every single night, baby steps towards blooming into a better you are always beautiful.”

The Goods

Lasting Smiles Passionfruit Mango Organic Lip Balm (full size)–This lip balm is made with healthy organic ingredients. By wearing it you are supporting fairtrade global farmers, and funding cleft surgeries for children. I love that they included an item that has some money go towards a good cause. It says “thanks to you, lasting smiles, and BB5 20 children have been provided with the surgery. How awesome is that?! I knew right away that I would love this scent based on the name. It’s a smooth balm, wasn’t sticky and didn’t give off any color. I’m really happy with this brand!

Rave 4X Mega Unscented Hairspray–This spray has long-lasting hold, and firm style control. BB5 recommends spraying this on your hairbrush for even application. I like how this didn’t make my hair feel crunchy at all! It made my hair feel smooth and got rid of any flyaways. I wouldn’t call it unscented though, I got a bit of a sweet smell from it, which I have no complaints about.

Incoco Nail Polish Applique Set (full size)–Not too much information to give on this product, just your basic nail wraps. I heard there were a few different prints, and I love the one I received! It’s super cute and I love how they have a bit of a retro vibe to them! I won’t do all my fingers at once, but this will be great for an accent nail!

Style Essentials TwinGloss (full size)–The two colors mix for a complimentary shade every time you apply. It’s also nonsticky and makes your lips look super shiny! This picture didn’t pick up the color quite right, the one side is quite white and has a bit of sparkle. This went on smooth, and had a nice sparkly shine. It also doesn’t give much of a color which I really like, I don’t have many glosses that are so minimal in color.

First Aid Beauty Facial Cleanser–This cleanser is PH-balanced, paraben-free, and safe for sensitive skin. I’m a bit disappointed that it’s just a little packet, but it’s nice that they included three. It says you only need a dime sized amount and I have gotten about 2 uses out of a packet. It makes my face feel smooth and clean, but I’m not noticing it do anything different than any other cleanser that I’ve used.

Final Thoughts

I’m becoming really glad that I stuck with this subscription. I really like this box, most aren’t brands that I’m familiar with, and if I have heard of the brand, it’s not one I see often. Normally I would be annoyed by receiving two of the same type of product, but when it comes to lip balms or glosses, I already know that you can never have too many. I will use every one of these products and I hope that they are able to keep up with this level of box! It was also so great to see a brand that gives to a good cause!
