2016 Bucket List

It’s the end of the year which means time to reflect on all that has happened and to start looking forward to what is ahead. When I started going over my 2015 Bucket List I felt a bit disheartened. I felt like I hadn’t really accomplished much that I set out to do, but that isn’t true. I’ve realized that my priorities have just changed. I’ve grown a lot throughout the year, made a lot of changes, and there are a lot more changes still to come. Rather than looking back today, I’m going to look forward. I’ve got a lot I want to accomplish, and a lot I want to see happen. I’ve had a lot of great things happen in 2015 and those deserve their own post, likely coming next week. For now though, what are my plans?

Save some money

Last year I wanted to have $2000 of savings by year end. This isn’t a huge amount but it just wasn’t doable. Let’s face it, I like to shop. I have no problem admitting to this fact. Well, I ended the year with nothing in savings. Zero, zip, zilch, nada. In 2016 I just want something in savings. No specific amount, I just don’t want that account to be empty. This is a conscious decision that will happen. It might be tough with all the extra adventures I want to have, but I will make it happen.

Get to my goal weight

This was another goal I had in 2015, and it didn’t happen. My love for fitness grew, I just need my love of food to diminish/change. This will happen in 2016. I will reach my goal by year end.

Make money from my writing

I didn’t realize until this past year how much I loved writing. I knew that I enjoyed doing it to pass the time and to have a hobby, but I didn’t realize it was more than that. It wasn’t until I started writing for Yogi Approved that I felt like I could compare to all the other writers and bloggers out there. In 2016 I’m going to continue to develop my writing by submitting pieces on Yogi Approved, being consistent on my blog, but also finding ways to earn some extra income for writing. This might mean really monetizing my blog, or writing a piece for someone that comes with a paycheck. I don’t know what this is going to look like, but that is part of the journey.

Travel out of country

This might be a bit of a cop out to put on this list since I already have a trip planned/in the works. My passport also expires in June of 2016 and needs at least one more stamp in it before then. I also love to travel and experience new places so it only makes sense to still include it.

Visit 5 new places in Saskatchewan

When Ian and I went camping this past year we saw so many new places that I never knew existed in Saskatchewan. Since doing some research I have discovered even more places that I need to visit. I anticipate that we will make multiple camping trips and see many new places, and hopefully make some day trips around the province as well. I can’t wait!

Hike up a mountain

This was on my 2015 list and it didn’t really happen. I did climb a “Saskatchewan mountain” which just means we walked up a really, really big hill. Not quite the same as being in the mountains. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a trip to Calgary during the summer/warm months and definitely plan on hiking up a mountain, just need to find the right one!

Ride a horse

Another item that was on my last list that didn’t end up getting done.

Do at least 12 5k’s, one in under 30 minutes.

I love 5k’s, real or virtual. I did seven in 2015 and I am definitely doing more in 2016. My goal is to do an average of at least one per month. My fastest time as of now is just under 33 minutes. That is SO close to being under 30 minutes. I will be able to do AT LEAST one run in under 30 minutes by the end of the year. I will also greatly improve my standings in the real life runs.

Go on a train ride

I love the feel of being on a train. It’s a fun way to get anywhere, even if it’s just going around in circles at a park. I’m going to go on a train. It may just be in circles, or it may be another kind, but it will happen.

Try out 5 different types of fitness classes

I love trying out new kinds of fitness. There are a few that I know I’d never go near because I just have zero interest (like barre, I don’t need to be getting that cozy with someone next to me while working out!), but there a lot that I want to try. I’ve dabbled in a few this past year like yoga and aerial hammock and definitely plan on expanding that. There are so many unique ways to work out, so many of which are just fun. I haven’t quite decided all the different types that I’ll try, but I promise you that it will be at least 5.

Get published on more websites

I love writing for my blog and I love writing for Yogi Approved. It’s really challenged me and I love when I feel myself growing. I want to write more articles and get my name out there more.

Grow my blog

Along with being published on more websites, I also really want to focus on making changes here and gaining more readers. I appreciate each and everyone of you who take the time to stop by and read my life updates or reviews, but you’re going to be seeing some changes around here. I still haven’t decided what that will look like, but I know it will look different. Stay tuned and let’s see where this journey takes us.

Grow my social media

If I want to write more places and grow more blog, it only makes sense to expand my social media. I still really struggle to get more into Twitter, but I’m going to put in a big effort to get more exposure in Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. Social Media is such an important part of getting yourself out there and I really want to utilize that.

Go to a spa

I wanted to treat myself last year and never did. This year I’m going to pamper myself at least once. Maybe a massage, facial, mani/pedi. I’m not quite sure what it will include, but it will be a great “me day”.

Get at least one more tattoo

I have two, and have wanted to get more for a few years now. There are two that I know for sure I want, and I would like to get at least one in 2016.

Don’t buy any clothes for at least 2 months out of the year

I have a problem. I can admit it. I have a lot of clothes, in fact I have over 100 tops. I wear everything that I have, but I probably don’t need to keep adding. I don’t remember the last time I went a month without buying a new clothing item. Not buying any clothes for at least two months may not seem like much, but that would be a pretty big deal. Who knows, maybe it will even end up being more than just two months! Plus the month that I save can go towards some of my other goals!

It’s going to be a great year. I definitely proclaim this “the year of Andrea!”

Bucket List

  • I think it’s so great you were able to look back at your 2015 list and see how your priorities changed throughout the year. It’s really amazing how much we grow in just 365 days! I’m with you on the having too many clothes. I started doing a modified version of a capsule wardrobe and it helped me SO much with less laundry and being more intentional about what I am wearing.     • My *ultimate* goal would be to go six months (not necessarily in a row) without buying clothes, but I’m not sure how practical that is! Two months at least feels somewhat attainable ;).

  • I love that you listed the things you wanted to get done but didn’t and instead of giving them up rolled them over to the next year. Awesome! I totally understand the shopping issue… but if it’s any consolation, I just wrote a post on budgeting that could help you save AND still go shopping 🙂

    • I figure sometimes plans just don’t work out, it’s no reason to give up on something you really want to accomplish! I’ll definitely take a look at that post, it sounds like something I could benefit from!

    Looking at this bucket list, we have a lot in common! I love your blog related goals. I too am also working towards getting healthier and shedding some pounds. I would also love to go on a train ride, ride a horse, and go to the spa.

    Suddenly I feel the need to make my own bucket list!

    • Make obe! I find that I stick to things way better with a list. Otherwise they just stay ideas in my mind that I would like to do, but never actually work towards accomplishing!
